Sarmaş dolaş su kabağı...The gourd plant embraces the trees...

Ekim ayı "Bitki Farkındalığı Programı"nın temalarından biri "su kabağı" idi. Tema kapsamında su kabağının ağaçları, dalları aşan uzun yolculuğunu keyifli bir sunumla tanıdık. Ne kadar farklı amaçlarla kullanıldığına hayret ettik.

One of theme for "Botany Awareness Program" was "gourd"on September. We recognized the gourd which cross the trees, branches by an interesting power point presentation within this theme. And suprised when we learnt the gourds used for very various jobs.


Sonra, acaba okulumuzun bahçesinde su kabağı bitkisi var mı diye aramaya koyulduk. Botanik bahçesinde ve zeytin ağacının altında bulduğumuz, aslında defalarca önünden geçtiğimiz halde farketmediğimiz su kabakları ile tanıştık, yapraklarını, çiçeklerini, kokusunu uzun uzun inceledik.

Then, we wondered as to whether any gourd exist in our school garden and took the road of the garden looking for gourds. We found gourds in botany garden and an other one under olive tree. We realized that, altough we passed near them everyday we were unaware of them. We viewed and analysed the leaves, flowers and smells of gourd broadly.

 

Sonra Merve öğretmenin sunumunda çok dikkatimizi çeken "işlenmiş kabakları" merak ettik ve okulumuzun içinde ve dışında abajura, süse dönüşmüş kabaklarını görünce çok şaşırdık. Küçük Kara Balık sahnesindeki süslerin su kabağı olduğunu bilmek bizi çok şaşırttı.

We wondered the hand-tooled gourds which are told by Merve teacher during the power-point presentation and looked for the gourds which had turned into lampshades in the indoor parts of our school. And we suprised when we learnt that garnishes which are used for decor are made from gourds in our open air theatre.

 

İlerleyen günlerde su kabağından yapılmış bir abajurun altında romantik bir ortamda öğretmenimizin okuduğu bir öyküyü dinleyeceğiz..:)

We will listen to a story from our teacher under the light of a gourd lamp romantically in the upcoming days. :)
